What We Want to Achieve

The livestock industry is a stable, strong, and reliable sector. Australia has been on the front foot, developing on a global scale. However, with development and improved marketing and product assurance/control, so too does the increase in workload and regulation for our producers. CLS is devoted to ensuring no business is left behind with the moving requirements, keeping them on track and competitive. We work with producers to better understand their data.

Establishment

Officially opened for business in 2022, CLS has gradually taken on new roles and responsibilities for multiple businesses and various operations. We commonly assist with accreditations and audits such as LPA, MSA, NFAS, and EU cattle, along with constant NLIS support. We provide monthly feedlot reporting for animal performance, including growth production and financial measurements, down to individual animals and various categories, sex, breeds, and different vendors. We also draft budgets and forecasts, track ration costs, and monitor commodity shrinkage. More recently, we have offered on-farm assistance with systems and the effectiveness of data collection and recording.

Background

Sarah Hamilton, the founder of Commercial Livestock Services, has dedicated her life to the agriculture industry. Raised in regional NSW by parents who are primary producers specializing in cropping and beef, along with some wool production, Sarah developed a deep understanding of the agricultural sector from a young age. She earned a Bachelor of Rural Science from the University of New England. This degree led to a postgraduate opportunity with the Australian Agriculture Company (AAco), where she worked across their northern stations assisting with budgeting and financial analysis.

After gaining valuable experience, Sarah returned to her family’s farm, helping it not only survive the severe droughts of 2017-2018 but also to establish a small feedlot in the Barraba district. In 2019, she took on the role of managing the expanding Tallawanta feedlot back in Garah, northwest of Moree, where she grew up.

Throughout her career, Sarah has been involved in various roles, including contract mustering, harvest operations, and feedlot management. She prides herself on her ability to work effectively with diverse teams to deliver positive results. With a strong hands-on background in commercial livestock operations and a keen aptitude for numbers and problem-solving, Sarah excels in data analysis. She also has extensive experience with audits and applications, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

At Commercial Livestock Services, the approach is pragmatic and resourceful: “The wheel already rolls; there is no need to reinvent it.” The company’s goal is not to sell more software or products but to help clients utilise and understand the tools they already have available.
